Hertz in Marseille Airport

Also known as Marseille-Provence Airport, Marseille Airport can be found less than 25km from Marseille, France’s second most populated city, and just a 24-minute drive away. The airport itself is very busy for its size, with 8.5 million travellers making their way through the terminals every year. As the airport is also only a 90-minute drive from Provence, car rental on arrival is a great option, to let you explore France in comfort.

Hertz Car Rental is a fantastic choice for self-drive at Marseille Airport, as they have almost 100 years of experience providing drivers with premium quality vehicles at affordable prices. Whether you’re in France for a holiday or for work, Hertz can offer you the convenience of driving yourself rather than being reliant on public transport, as well as the flexibility of being able to travel at your own pace.

About the airport

Marseille Airport is committed to sustainability and in 2016 was awarded Level 2 of the European Airport Carbon Accreditation thanks to its voluntary initiatives for environmental protection. That it manages this while being so busy — two runways serving 270 aircraft movements per day — is no small feat. Flights run to destinations around the world including Europe, Canada and Africa. Airlines servicing the airport include Volotea, Ryanair, Hop!, easyJet, Air France, Air Algerie, and Air Azur, with many more serving just a couple of destinations from Marseille’s two runways.

The four terminals are within walking distance of each other, and are named Hall 1, 3 and 4, as well as mp2, which is dedicated to low cost flights. All terminals offer a choice of shops, eateries and other services to make travelling from Marseille a pleasant and memorable experience.

How to rent a car at Marseille Airport

Hertz Car Rental is situated outside the main airport terminals in the car parking area, making it easy to find when you land. The branch is open Monday to Friday 7.00am until midnight, 7.30am until midnight on Saturdays (from 1 April 2017), and 8.00am until midnight on Sundays.

To rent a Group 1 vehicle at Marseille Airport, you must be at least 25, or 21 upon payment of the €37.13 per day age differential charge. For all other vehicle groups, you must be aged at least between 25 and 30. To collect your car, you will need a valid EU driver’slicence or, if you are from outside the EU, an International Driving Permit (IDP). EU citizens will also need to present a valid passport or a national ID card, while non-EU citizens will require their passport. Most major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Nearby attractions

If driving in the French countryside, takes your fancy, there’s plenty to see within a short drive of Marseille Airport. The Calanques are a series of mini-fjords along some dazzling limestone cliffs. You can also drive out to Vieux Port and get the tourist boat to Château d’If, a defensive structure that later became a prison, and which also plays an important part in the classic novel The Count of Monte Cristo. A drive into Marseille itself also presents a variety of cultural attractions.
