Hertz in Frankfurt International airport (FRA)

Frankfurt is the banking centre of Germany and so Frankfurt International airport is understandably the third busiest in Europe. With the airport just over seven miles from the city itself, a car is a great way to ensure you can get about without hassle.

With Hertz Car Rental branches located in both Terminals 1 and 2 of Frankfurt International, this offers busy customers a convenient way to collect and return their vehicle. You can rely on Hertz Car Rental’s 90 years of experience to ensure you have a seamless experience whether you have arranged your rental in advance, or when you arrive at the airport.

About the airport

In 2015, 60million passengers made their way through Frankfurt International airport and the airport was voted as ‘Germany’s Best Airport’ by The Deutsches Kundeninstitut (DKI) and business magazine Wirtschaftswoche. This is the result of numerous innovation projects that have seen the air transport hub constantly improving services.

Currently the airport has two terminals with a third expected to open in 2016/2017. Transport between the two existing terminals is easy, with a free SkyLine shuttle taking just 2 minutes to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and vice versa. Terminal 1 is the base for Lufthansa and Star Alliance airlines, while all other airlines run from Terminal 2.

How to rent a car at Frankfurt International airport

There are Hertz Car Rental branches at both Terminals 1 and 2. The Terminal 1 branch operates from 6am until midnight seven days a week, while the Terminal 2 branch opens until 11pm.

To rent a car in Germany you must be at least 25 years of age (or 21 if you pay a supplementary charge) and hold a full European Union driving licence. Alternatively, you should hold a valid non-European Union driving licence with a valid International Driving Permit (IDP). If you are a German national or a member of the EU, you will also need to present a national identity card or European Union passport, while non-EU members will be required to show their full and valid passport.

In addition to this, you will need your credit or debit card to hand and, if you have booked your vehicle in advance, you will need to show your reservation information.

Additional information

• Customers arriving at Terminal 2 after 2300, please proceed to the Hertz counter in Terminal
• Please note that cargo vans and trucks cannot be returned to this location at any time.
• Terminal 1 offers an Exclusive Gold Service Area on Level 4 of the Car Rental Parking Area where you can go straight to your vehicle. Terminal 2 offers a Hertz Gold Counter where your key and rental agreement will be waiting.
