Hertz in Fiumicino Leonardo Da Vinci Airport (FCO)

Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is Italy’s premier international airport and one of Europe’s busiest. Its five terminals welcomed over 40 million passengers in 2015, and the number continues to climb as more people use this central transport hub for both business and leisure travel to Italy. Located just 21 miles to the west of Rome, it’s easy to get into the historic centre of the city by car from Hertz Car Rental to see famous sights like the Vatican and Coliseum.

With over nine decades of experience in supplying its customers with vehicles, Hertz Car Rental allows passengers flying in to Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International Airport to take advantage of the flexibility that self-drive affords while visiting the Eternal City. The Autostrada Roma will get you from the airport into central Rome in about half an hour, with the Hertz Car Rental branch at Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International Airport the most convenient and fastest way to rent a car for the journey.

About the airport

Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is the main hub for Italy’s biggest airline, Alitalia, as well as Vueling, the budget Spanish carrier. This is Europe’s eighth busiest airport and in 2014 was the 35th busiest worldwide. It’s fitting that it is named after the Renaissance polymath who drew a design for the first helicopter.

The airport’s five terminals are serviced by a multi-story car park, which is where you’ll find the Hertz Car Rentals area, in Block C Level 4. This is just a short walk from the Arrivals area of Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International Airport of all the terminals.

How to rent a car at Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International Airport

The Hertz Car Rental branch is open between 7.00am and midnight, 7 days a week. There’s also a collection and return service which makes out-of-hours arrivals and departures more convenient.

The minimum age for renting a car from Hertz Car Rental at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is 25. However, on payment of a young driver surcharge of $21.96 you need only be 23. You’ll need to be able to produce a full EU driving licence if you’re from an EU country, or a non-EU licence plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) if from outside the EU. You will also be required to have an EU valid passport or ID card, or alternatively a full passport if you’re from a non-EU country. If you have booked your car in advance you’ll need to provide your booking documents, and you can pay by credit or debit card.

Additional information:

• For Hertz Gold Service and Return, go to Block C on Level 4 of the multi-storey car park, or to the main counter in the event of construction work being underway there.
• For customers who don’t wish to or cannot drive, a chauffeur-driven service is available from Hertz Car Rental at Fiumicino – Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.
