About the airport
Barcelona-El Prat airport has been continually growing since it was first mentioned in 1916. It reached its first million passengers in 1963 and has consistently boomed since then, thanks to careful innovations and renovations. It has twice been awarded Best European Airport (more than 25 million passengers) by the Airport Council International (ACI), and has been awarded Best Airport in Southern Europe by Skytrax three times. Both awards were most recently presented in 2014.
The airport has two terminals that are connected by a 24-hour free shuttle bus service, with stops near Arrivals and Departures for each.
Hertz has two branches at Barcelona-El Prat airport — one in each terminal — and both are open from 7am until midnight. Out of hours drop off and collection services are available. The Terminal 1 branch is located on Level 0 in Zone A, while the Terminal 2 branch can be found in the front of the terminal.

EU members will be required to produce either their passport or national identity card, while non-EU members must show a passport. You will also be required to provide your credit or debit card and your reservation details if you have pre-booked.
• Hertz counters are located inside both Terminals 1 and 2.
• In both terminals, Gold customers should proceed straight to the Gold Service Counter.
• If flight number is not provided at booking, your car will be at T1.
Visitors to Spain are only allowed to drive hire vehicles with the appropriate insurance and a full licence. More information on driving in Spain.

Barcelona itself is a hive of tourism thanks to its dozens of galleries and museums, the stunning, iconic buildings by Antoni Gaudí and the many fine restaurants and bars. Whether it’s a family holiday or a romantic break, it’s easy to find something to entertain you.
