Hertz in Stockholm International Airport (ARN)

Stockholm International Airport is located 37km to the north of central Stockholm and serves the province of Uppland and the surrounding region. It’s the main gateway for international travelers to Sweden and in 2015 it saw over 23 million passengers pass through its four terminals. The figure continues to rise, and as it only takes about half an hour to drive into Stockholm the airport is ideally situated for exploring Sweden’s historic capital with Hertz Car Rental.

Hertz Car Rental has been providing an eclectic range of customers with rental vehicles of their choice for almost a century, and continues to provide exclusive tailored services today. Customers arriving at Stockholm International Airport from around the world can pick up a flexible self-drive vehicle from the Hertz Car Rental branch in nearby Benstocksvagen 1, with an airport shuttle service taking you there in no time.

About the airport

Stockholm International Airport was opened in 1960 and in 1990 two new domestic terminals were opened to handle increasing demand. Domestic 2 and 3 were later renamed as 4 and 5, and a third runway was added in 2002. This runway is used only during peak periods because of local environmental concerns in the Uppsala region. Major airport expansion plans were unveiled in 2014, including a new Terminal 5 pier to accommodate bigger international aircraft, although some environmental groups have opposed it.

Terminals 2 and 5 are reserved for international flights only, with domestics using 3 and 4. The ‘Sky City’ shopping area houses shopping facilities, restaurants and bars in the terminal buildings. There are also several hotels in the airport complex itself and in the surrounding area.

How to rent a car at Stockholm International Airport

The Hertz Car Rental branch is open Monday to Wednesday from 8.30am to 4.00pm, Thursday from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Friday from 8.30am to 4.00pm and at weekends on request only. There’s a delivery and collection service for out-of-hours arrivals and departures, and this can be arranged via the Reservation Centre.

You must be aged at least 18 to rent a car at Stockholm International Airport from Hertz Car Rental, although this can vary depending on the type of vehicle and whether you pay the young driver surcharge of NOK 130 per day. You will be required to have a valid driving license too, and also an International Driving Permit (IDP) if you are arriving in Stockholm from a country outside of the EU. A valid passport will also be required, or a valid ID if you’re from within the EU. You can use a recognized credit or debit card to make your payment, and must have the documentation to hand if you made a pre-booking.

Additional information:

• Please not that if you made a reservation and arrive outside of opening hours you will be charged a standard fee of NOK 450 when you pick up the vehicle. This includes tax.
• For customers who prefer not to drive themselves or are unable to do so, Hertz Car Rental offers a Chauffeur-Drive service.
