Sabiha Gökçen International Airport was built in the early 2000s to meeting rising demand for air travel to Istanbul (domestic and international), when is Istanbul Atatürk Airport along was no longer big enough to cope. There’s just one runway and this is currently the second-busiest single-runway airport in the world. A second is planned for 2019.
