Hertz in Aberdeen Airport (ABZ)

Aberdeen Airport is located five miles to the north of Aberdeen city centre and is one of the UK’s busiest airports. 2015 saw almost 3.5 million passengers pass through its five terminals, only one of which is for passengers. Just a short drive from the city of Aberdeen, the airport is well positioned for incoming travellers to get quickly and easily to the historic city and other parts of Scotland by car from Hertz Car Rental.

For close on a century Hertz Car Rental has been a leader in the field of providing customers around the globe with quality rental vehicles to fit their ongoing travel requirements. Customers arriving at Aberdeen Airport will find the Hertz Car Rental branch in the car rental building next to the passenger terminal. It’s just a short walk from the arrivals lounge and you’ll be in your Aberdeen hotel or business meeting in less than half an hour.

About the airport

As well as being a portal for international passengers, Aberdeen Airport also serves as the Scottish oil industry’s main heliport, with helicopters reaching the Shetland offshore fields from here. The airport was opened back in 1934 and was used by the RAF during the war. Helicopter operations started in 1967 when North Sea oil was discovered. More recently, in 2011 a main runway extension was opened and the airport was renamed as Aberdeen International. Further runway extensions are planned to allow passenger planes to reach destinations in North Africa and America.

Of the current five terminals, one is for passengers. Next to it you’ll find the car rental building where there’s a desk for Hertz Car Rental customers. It’s conveniently close to Arrivals and to airport facilities such as dining and shopping outlets. Turn left outside the terminal building and walk towards the main car park.

How to rent a car at Aberdeen Airport

The Hertz Car Rental branch is open Monday to Friday from 7.00am to 11.00pm, Saturday from 9.00am to 6.00pm and Sunday 9.00am to 11.00pm. A delivery and collection service is provided by Hertz if you arrive or depart out of hours, to fit in with your travel plans.

You must be 25 years old to rent a car from Hertz at Aberdeen Airport. However, if a young driver surcharge of £33.60 per day is paid the age limit reduces to 23 years. For some high-performance cars you must be 30 years old. You will need to have a valid driving licence too, or an International Driving Permit (IDP) if you are coming from outside of the EU. A valid passport is also necessary, or a valid ID should you be from an EU member state. When you arrive at the Hertz Car Rental branch having booked in advance you will need to have the relevant paperwork with you too. Payment by credit or debit card is accepted.

Additional information:

• If you are not able to drive yourself, or cannot do so for any reason, Hertz provides a Chauffeur-Drive service for customers.
• A built-in navigation system is available with some types of vehicle.
