Pittsburgh International Airport is in the suburbs of Pittsburgh around 20 miles from downtown. This is the second busiest airport in the state and in 2016, 8,309,754 passengers passed through the doors. With excellent transport connections by road, the airport is conveniently located for getting around the Pittsburgh area with a rental car from Hertz.

Customers arriving at the Pittsburgh Airport branch of Hertz Car Rental can choose from a wide selection of rental vehicles to suit their needs, giving them the freedom to explore the area without relying on public transport.

About the airport

Construction of Pittsburgh International Airport began in 1946 and the airport opened in 1952. The building was designed by architect Joseph W Hoover in a simple exposed concrete, glass and steel style. In 1987, a major expansion took place with new facilities opening in 1992.

Today the airport has the longest runway of any commercial airport in Pennsylvania at 3,500 metres and there is an average of 414 flights a day to 68 destinations worldwide.

There are two terminals at Pittsburgh International Airport, the ‘Airside Terminal’ and the ‘Landside Terminal’.
