About the airport

The airport has over 26,000 square metres of retail space with numerous eating and shopping outlets. As well as this, it has two open-air garden spaces, business centres, prayer rooms and spa facilities.

Terminal 1 underwent major refurbishment between 2013-2015, including improvements to the arrivals area, pick-up and drop-off points, and modernisation of the departure hall. Today it has capacity for over 20 million passengers annually and Concourse D opened in 2016, linked to Terminal 1 by airport train.

How old do I need to be to rent a car in Dubai, UAE?

You must be at least 21 to rent a car in the UAE, 25 in some cases, depending on the class of vehicle you are hiring.

You must present a valid licence held for at least one year. Residents of the following countries can drive in the UAE without an International Driver’s Permit (IDP): Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. All other customers must present a valid International Driver’s Permit with their national driver’s licence at the time of rental.

Where customers have arranged advance collection, the relevant documentation will be required, and all payments can be made using a credit or debit card.
