Overview
Rent the Volvo XC90 in Dubai
In the UAE's premium seven-seat segment, most rentals are German. The XC90 is the reason to look elsewhere — quieter, calmer, and built around a different idea of what a luxury SUV is for.
Volvo has never competed on horsepower figures. The XC90 competes on the quality of the cabin you sit in, the noise you do not hear at 120 km/h, and a safety specification that remains the segment benchmark.
Three rows that all work
Seven seats across three rows are genuinely usable, with second-row legroom that is outstanding for the class and a third row that adults can occupy on shorter journeys. Cargo space is 302 litres behind the third row, expanding to 680 litres with row three folded.
Material quality is where the XC90 separates itself. The wood inlays, the crystal gear selector, the seat leather and the switchgear all sit at the top of the segment — noticeably ahead of rivals at a similar rental rate. The Bowers and Wilkins audio system available on upper specifications is among the best fitted to any production car.
Mild hybrid AWD, tuned for distance
UAE cars run the B5 powertrain: a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 48-volt mild hybrid assistance, producing around 250hp and 360Nm through an 8-speed automatic with all-wheel drive as standard. The 0-100 km/h time of roughly 7.3 seconds is more than adequate for a vehicle of this size.
The ride is the defining characteristic. Air suspension on higher specifications delivers a near-silent, floating quality that makes the Dubai to Abu Dhabi run feel considerably shorter than it is. Towing capacity reaches around 2,250kg.
Safety technology that still leads the segment
Pilot Assist provides semi-autonomous highway functionality that reduces driver fatigue meaningfully on long routes. City Safety automatically brakes for pedestrians, cyclists and large animals — relevant on UAE roads where the last of those is not a theoretical concern. Blind spot detection, cross traffic alert and lane keeping assist are all standard.
XC90 or XC60?
The XC60 shares the same cabin philosophy, the same safety systems and much of the same driving character in a shorter, five-seat body that is easier to park. If you do not need the third row, the XC60 gives you most of the XC90 experience for less. The XC90 is the answer when you are six or seven people, or when the extra presence is part of the point.
