Hertz in Melbourne Airport (MEL)

Melbourne Airport is the second busiest in Australia, and the main airport serving Melbourne. Also known as Tullamarine Airport, this important international and domestic hub is served by over 30 airlines, including Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, and Qantas. Melbourne Airport is located 23km from the centre of Melbourne, roughly 25 minutes drive by car.

A short drive out of Melbourne and you’ll reach the Great Ocean Road, 243 km of scenic ocean-side drive that will live long in the memory. Get there without any fuss, with car hire from Hertz Car Rental. There is a branch right in the heart of the airport itself, so you can head out on your adventure as soon as your plane touches down with no fuss, just great service.

About the airport

Opened in 1970, Melbourne Airport has grown to become the second busiest airport in Australia and the main airport in the region, connecting over 33 million passengers per annum to numerous domestic and international destinations. The route from Melbourne to Sydney is the third busiest flight route in the world, connecting over 7 million passengers every year.

Melbourne, or Tullamarine Airport, consists of four terminals with Terminal 2 handling all international flights. Terminal 2 was expanded considerably in 2008, adding 35,000m² of space by 2012. All terminals have the facilities and retail spaces you’d expect from a large airport, as well as a number of lounges operated by Virgin Australia, Qantas, and Air New Zealand. The airport is surrounded by hotels including the Park Royal Hotel, which is a two-minute walk from the terminals via a covered walkway.
