Hertz in Exhibition Avenue 147, Manama

The capital city of Bahrain is well suited to drivers with an excellent road system, making car rental in Manama the easiest way to get around this fascinating destination. You’ll find Hertz Exhibition Avenue 147 branch in the city centre, close to Marina Garden Park and the Bahrain National Museum, just a 15-minute drive from Bahrain International Airport.

With attractions here including a 16th century fort and one of the world’s largest mosques, renting a car in Manama makes seeing all the sights in air-conditioned comfort easy and convenient. Car renal is easily the best way to see everything Manama has to offer, especially if you want to explore a little further afield. Bahrain is an up-and-coming destination, as well as a popular location for business travellers, and Hertz Car Rental offers you the choice of vehicles to suit any requirement.

Rules and Regulations for Driving in Manama

The minimum age to rent a car with Hertz in Bahrain is 21 for all vehicle groups except group G and R vehicles, for which a minimum age of 25 years applies.

When collecting your vehicle, you will need to present your driving licence (held for a minimum of 1 year). All drivers living outside Bahrain will need an IDP (International Driver’s Permit). All UK drivers (except Northern Ireland) will need to provide evidence of any driving endorsements, and you should bring a print out of your licence summary when collecting your vehicle.

Because Manama is a compact city, it’s easy to navigate. As in most cities, the roads in Manama can sometimes be busy, therefore we recommend you to avoid rush hour from 7-9am and 4-7pm. Parking in the city centre can be limited but you will generally find free or paid parking spots at hotels and malls.

Driving in Manama, as in the rest of Bahrain, is on the right, and speed limits are strict and must be adhered to at all times.

Special Attractions

Spend some time at Al Fateh Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, or explore the ruins of Qal’at al-Bahrain, a 16th century Portuguese fort. On sunny days, a stroll along Corniche al-Fateh on the east coast is the perfect way to relax, and you’ll find plenty of funfair rides for the kids too. Bahrain National Museum is just a short distance from the city centre.

The famous Tree of Life can be seen some 30km south of the city. This tree stands in the middle of dry desert and it’s still uncertain just how it survives. For shopping, Al A'Ali Mall, in the Seef District is a mall styled like a traditional open-air souk and well worth visiting for the experience as well as the shops. When it comes to dining, you’ll find plenty of international options, but the authentic Yemeni restaurants in the city centre offer something a little more adventurous.
