Hertz in Bergen Airport

Norway’s second busiest airport serves the southwest of the country, including the nearby city of Bergen and Hordaland county. It’s just a 25-minute drive from the centre of Bergen, with excellent transport links, including the R580 highway, which takes you straight to the airport terminal. In 2014 Time magazine named Bergen one of Europe’s 14 ‘Secret Capitals’, and the stunning location and thriving commercial sector make it a hugely popular destination for both business and leisure travellers.

To really see the very best of Norway’s incredible natural beauty, a hire car from Hertz Car Rental is your best option, giving you the freedom to explore the surrounding Seven Mountains, Byfjorden fjords and charming city itself. Travel further into Hordaland county and you’ll find sleepy little towns and some of the very best driving roads in Europe. Hertz Car Rental have used nearly a century of experience to create a 21st century car rental service specifically designed around you. From 4x4s to family saloons, luxury cars or commercial rentals, Hertz Car Rental in Bergen has it all.

About the airport

Bergen Airport is located at Flesland, and welcomes around six million passengers annually. It is the gateway to the busy southwest of Norway, where many of the oil and gas producers have their headquarters. This makes Bergen Airport popular with business travellers as well as those leisure visitors drawn to the natural beauty of Norway.

The airport covers 230,000sq ft., with excellent ground facilities and a single runway. It provides links to a number of domestic destinations within Scandinavia, and is also a major helicopter terminal, connecting to offshore oil and gas rigs, as well as providing helicopter links to other parts of the country. The passenger terminal has plenty of facilities for passengers, including extensive Duty Free and shopping, and there are also additional office suites for business users, and a good selection of restaurants and cafés.

Nearby attractions

Norway’s biggest attraction is its natural beauty, and the landscape in this part of the country is breath-taking. Bergen is the gateway to the Fjords of western Norway, and the best way to explore them is by driving along Norway’s excellent (if somewhat complex) road system. RV7, also known as the Hardangervidda route, takes you up into the mountain plateau for some extraordinary views. Head into Bergen itself and you’re surrounded by pretty buildings on cobbled streets. The eastern side of Vågen harbour is a World Heritage Site, and is preserved as a living museum of Nordic architecture. It’s also a great spot for a coffee!
